WireMite was created as a digital delivery currency for international remittances of immigrants to their original home country, or to be used by lending circles such as the Grameen Bank or Bottom of the Pyramid enterprises.

WireMite was founded back in 2000 to enable low cost (no cost) remittance from a local POS or computer terminal to any other location in the world. It was important to enable these transactions to be independent if possible from state owned currencies and added costs and delays.

WireMite developed systems that integrated smart cards, POS machines and internet portals that complied with Canadian Debit Card and international fund transfer institutions in order to expedite seamless international remittance. Integrating this locally (POS terminal in a corner store, mobile phone, tablet or PC) enables the funds to stay within the community while reaching out internationally through secure encrypted portals. The secure digital nature of this currency will bring the cost of transactions and digital wallet storage to almost zero.

Low cost is a vital factor to ensure all funds are available to those most in need. Eventual acceptance that WireMite as an international mode of payment will cut out the middlemen of soveriegn currencies, legacy banking and money transfer institutions.

The secure electronic wallet will enable the entrepreneur in a small village in Kenya or India to do business with others in the same market or community, while cutting out the traditional banks and financial institutions that had always denied them credit and banking services.


WireMite's goal is to bring clarity and transparency to the international flow of funds from the "have" states to the "have not" states. It can be a true currency for transactions amoung the billions whom the banking and financial systems deemed irrelevant.

Unlike other digital currency such as BitCoin, (an interesting derivation of Wire Mite), the mandate for WireMite is to keep its value and benefits 100% within the economic and social circles of the world's poorest.

This ability to create a liquid and vibrant medium of exchange for these billions will be a very real catalyst to building security, integrity and trust. The direct movement of funds between family,friends, lending circles and BOP enterprises makes for a less intrusive financial system removed from the avarice of major banking and government entities.
